Take Multi with Hui Ma! She goes over a lot of examples in class (which you should write down and understand) and overall is a very organized and systematic teacher, which I love. Her tests are very straightforward, as long as you go over the examples and know how to do the different types of problems. If you need more time, she lets you finish your tests in her office. There are several quizzes with about 4-10 questions that aren't too bad, but I kinda slacked off and didn't really pay attention / stay up to date with the material, so make sure you are ready when you know there is a quiz.
Ma is an amazing professor; she is a good lecturer and approachable outside of class as well. But make no mistake - Calc 3 is hard, most of the people that find the class easy had previous exposure to it in high school. The class is very fast paced and the material can get tricky especially toward the end, so I would recommend reading over her slides and getting familiar with the new material before each lecture, and reviewing after lecture. It is definitely very manageable to get a B if you put in a decent amount of time and effort. You can't really get a better teacher than Ma - highly recommend.
Do yourself a favor and take multi with Professor Ma. She is a gift from heaven. She's so sweet, teaches everything so clearly, and answers any question you'd have. She made difficult concepts understandable. I would not have gotten the grade I did with any other professor. She's so kind, it makes the class so much more enjoyable. Would highly recommend this class.
Professor Ma is an amazing instructor. You can tell that Professor Ma truly cares for her students as shown through her enthusiasm every class. I highly highly highly recommend her if you are taking this course. Never once did I regret taking this course with her. She is easily approachable and answers questions in a clear way. Take this course with her!!
Professor Ma was a great teacher. She helped everyone understand all the topics in a concise manner. The only strike against her was that attendance was mandatory which was a bitch, because I had already taken this class in high school, and skipped most of the lectures. This definitely affected my grade in the class.
Professor Ma was absolutely incredible! I enjoyed each of her lectures. On quiz day, she would have us split into groups to do group work. Not only was that effective in learning, but as a first year, it also helped me to know students who otherwise I would never socialize with.
During office hours she was super helpful and patient. I could go in very confused, but once I left I had a better grasp on the material. She made herself available whenever we had questions, and she was able to communicate well with us throughout the entire course.
What I liked the most, was that we had additional book work to accompany our online homework. I would do this work before the Webwork, and it helped me when studying and completing other tasks. With this book work, there were solutions readily available, and so I was able to learn from my mistakes on the spot.
Overall, Professor Ma showed that she cared about our learning, and in my opinion, those are the best types of professors. She is truly a great addition to the APMA department.
I loved this class and Ma was an absolute sweetheart. She is so nice, accommodating, and helpful all the time. Very quick to respond to emails and even lets you stay in her office hours to finish tests/quizzes. Webwork is not bad at all (even though people might say it is)- she also posts the answers to suggested problems that you can use to help with hw. Midterms are quite easy and the final, at least this year, was very easy. If you are decent at math, no reason you should not do well and get an A.
