Choi does his best in lecture to explain concepts but I often came out of class more confused than before. He tries to prove the methods while reading off of the slides, and I had to put in a good amount of time relearning the concepts through the book. We did end up having an equation sheet unlike the other sections which helped a bunch. Our workload was also less stressful as the only assignments were group quizzes weekly and webassigns. Best advice is to make friends in the class to help explain concepts and study with and you'll be alright.
Professor Choi wasn't the best teacher (I really regret not going with Hellings). The course material wasn't difficult, but it just was not taught clearly.
On average, we covered about one problem per lecture, so four problems a week. That's not a lot, and if you're someone who needs a professor to go over each problem's steps clearly, I do NOT recommend taking this course with Choi. For each 50 minute lecture, we spent at least 20 minutes where he went off on a tangent. He doesn't explain things clearly.
If you're good with learning all of the material on your own, you'll probably be fine with Choi.
He's a nice guy, but his inexperience in teaching definitely made it difficult for me to learn.
