Mary Beck teaches very well in APMA1110. The class is very hard however, because all the tests are department-made and they intentionally make it a very difficult class. Professor Beck is one of the best professors you can have for this course that is required in the e-school. Do all your homework, don't get behind, and go to office hours to understand all the homework problems and you will do great. The curve is very significant. I believe you could have gotten a B even in the 50's or 60's. 80's will earn you an A-.
This class is hard. Unless you've taken the equivalent (and done well) in high school/elsewhere, don't think for a minute that you'll breeze through this class. Beck does her best to make the class material as clear as possible and you really wont have a problem if you really pay attention during lecture. She also loves to get to know her students, so make sure you go to her office hours early on and introduce yourself. Don't be too discouraged if your grades aren't what you want from the beginning because the curve is very generous. 80+ will pretty much guarantee you some sort of A. Another good thing is that this class makes APMA 2120 seem like the easiest class in the world.
