First off, the professor's name is Tom Smith. I took Plants, People and Culture to complete my Math and Science Requirement and I'm still regretting it. Not only did he spring random quizzes, but even if you did attend every lecture, it was very difficult to do well on his exams. NOT an "easy" class to fulfill the requirement. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Take this course. Why you ask? No Homework, No Textbook, and no Final. That's why. Your grade in this class is based solely off of three multiple choice tests. While attendance is not required, I would recommend going because he covers a lot of material and it can be difficult to learn it all the night before a test for the first time. The class can be dry at times, but Tom Smith is a fairly friendly guy who wants his students to do well. He tells the class on the first day that the course is designed for students who are not math, science, or engineering majors to be able to get their math/science courses out of the way as painlessly as possible.
DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE NAME!!! Plants, People and Culture sounds a lot more interesting than it is. It should be called plants, plants and plants because that's basically what it is. Maybe the last 3 lectures are on people or culture. There are 3 midterms, each multiple choice, sounds easy enough, right? WRONG! You'll have to memorize a bunch of random facts about plants. By a bunch I mean hundreds and hundreds. Where is the green pepper from. What type of fruit is a mango? Who knows? WHO CARES?!? You'll have to memorize hundreds of obscure facts that aren't even remotely interesting. If that's your bag then go for it. If not then I'd steer clear. I barely eeked out a B.
PRO TIP: If you submit test corrections after getting a test back, you'll get some of your points back. He doesn't publicize this, but he will give you the points. He doesn't allow corrections for the third test though.
This may have been the easiest class I've ever taken. Four tests, 1 quiz, no work. Only need to study powerpoints to study for tests, don't need to take notes. The textbook is not required. I ended up buying it because it was only around $12 online, so it seemed worth it. Tests are very straightforward. You need to study to do well on tests, but it's just memorization, nothing that can't be accomplished the night before. Professor makes some pretty funny jokes. Going to lecture isn't necessary, but it helped with understanding. This class is an easy A, and you learn some things that are interesting. Great if you're not a science person. Finished the class with an A+. Absolutely recommend to anyone who can fit this class in their schedule. I actually enjoyed this class, not just because it was easy, but I also thought the material was interesting.
This class is super easy, just requires the ability to memorize parts and types of plants mostly. Tom Smith is a great professor and will help you succeed in his class! The textbook is optional and there is absolutely no homework outside of class aside from studying for the tests. Your grade consists of four equally weighted exams, none of which are cumulative.
So this class is not quite as easy as it sounds. Although it requires very little work ( or attendance for that matter) I found that I did not do as well as I thought I would have. Before the first test I went to every class which is totally pointless because the lectures are pretty dry plus all the info for the tests is on the power points. The tests ask for a lot of specific info which is hard to memorize all of it because so much info is covered on each of the tests. If you study the day before a test and the day of you'll be fine so in terms of workload it is super easy but I would not call this an easy A. Also ask about test corrections because if he will give those to you it is super clutch. Overall it really isn't bad but don't take this if you're just looking to boost the GPA because there are definitely easier options out there.
