Honestly, this class wasn't that bad. I got the impression that Culver knew what she was teaching albeit being a little rusty on the subject. A lot of people didn't like her guided notes, but I thought that it effectively emphasized the important formulas and concepts. Fluid mechanics isn't meant to be an easy class lol. So if you have trouble during the lectures or understanding some concepts, just reference the textbook or simply ask Culver during office hours. I thought the tests were fair; they had the same difficulty as the homeworks. The homeworks also helps prepare you for the exams. If the class, as a whole, does poorly, she will offer some sort of remediation. Overall, you shouldn't have trouble in this class if you just try lol.
Culver is a kind, friendly and somewhat engaging professor, but her unfamiliarity with the course material detracts from the overall experience of the class. Granted, it is her first semester teaching this class, but she should know the content well enough to lecture fluently. This is almost never the case. Her handwriting is difficult to read, so she types up guided notes before each lecture. However, she does not print the notes for the class, and makes tons of changes to her prewritten notes during lecture. She seems to be making things up as the class goes along. This just makes everyone feel less confident about the content and it really shows during exams.
