SOC 4800

J. Patrick Seder assigns unnecessary work to students that don't even incline in any way with their internships. The actual internship here is only worth 30% of the total grade (when it should be heavily weighed upon since we spend close to 20 hours a week). The class goes for 3 hours every week and he assigns a lot of reading/writing assignments that are due the following week. Apart from that you have to do a 10+ page paper at the end of the internship and have to also do a skit in front of the class which was a total waste of time since we don't need this kind of experience through the internship and that is not what we signed up for the internship for. Above all this, he is a critical/tough grader. He really picks on the tiniest details and takes off huge chunks of points for them. This class is also worth 4 credits so if you don't do as well, you will affect your GPA. I DO NO recommend taking this class with him.
