PLCP 2500

I have never worked harder for a 3 credit class, but it was really worth it because I learned a ton about researching, hypothesis testing, and writing concisely. Waldner is an AWESOME professor and devotes so much of his spare time to his students. We all had to write 30-page papers and even though mine definitely wasn't perfect, he gave me an A because he knew how hard I had worked!!! The skills I developed in this class have been useful across the board, the content was interesting, and the class dynamic was great. Definitely recommend.

This was one of the hardest classes I've taken at UVA with the biggest time comittment, but also the most helpful and rewarding. I would recommend this class to any politics major, because you will definitely learn how to do good research and perform hypothesis testing. Professor Waldner might seem intimidating at the beginning of the semester, but he is a fantastic teacher, very funny, and always very helpful. The class seems overwhelming because over half of the grade is a 5000 word research paper, but if you keep up with reading throughout the semester and work very hard, it is possible to get a good grade in the class.
