Reid is a super great professor. He makes class enjoyable and fun every day. I will say this felt like the first systems class that actually seemed to matter to career paths. If you want to understand what consulting is this class is essentially an intro to consulting. The course is deceptively difficult. It all matters based on who your groupmates end up being. Having good groupmates can make a project so much more enjoyable. Bad groupmates will bring you down. I will say that I spent on average around 10 hours on each case that was assigned and I believe that there is 6 total. The grade killer is actually embedded in weekly quizzes that try to teach basic statistics. The course has a sliding syllabus grading scale. There is one midterm, which is just a practice case and the final is an optional task! The Final isn't super tough, but it is a full 3-hour case.
A challenging, but very rewarding class. The cases are not easy, but you learn a lot and it’s real data. This class is arguably the most useful one in the Systems curriculum. Bailey is a great professor and has taught the class for well over a decade so he knows what he’s doing. Aim to do well on the prep quizzes and midterm/final to get a good grade in the class.
