I would reccomend both this course and Professor Alarian in general. The course itself, Europe in Crisis, was super fascinating and relevant. For months after the class you'll hear about what's going on in Europe and feel super smart. Alarian is very nice and intelligent and really wants to help you succeed as long as you put in the work. The first half of the class is kind of boring because its laying the foundations of how the European Union is set up structurally but its important for later in the course and its not that difficult. The midterm was kind of difficult, and I remember some of the class not doing so well but she offered test corrections to earn 50% of lost points back. The second half is where the course gets super interesting as you talk about all the present crises in Europe whether it be due to migration, far-right groups, or economic instability. Its during this time as well that you start really working on your final paper (which is about a crisis that specifically interests you). She has optional draft due dates which I would recommend taking advantage of; I didn't and wish I had. The final wasn't as hard as the midterm as the format was similar so we all knew what to expect. Know the authors and their arguments and you'll do fine. I finished the course with an A and was super pleased with the knowledge I left the class with.
