I took this class during the spring of 2021, which was 100% online. After the first class, the majority of the students stopped showing up for lectures. PQ is an abominable professor who gives extremely vague explanations about physics concepts. Consequently, we had to teach ourselves straight out of the textbook. There were issues with both midterm exams and at least 3-4 problems with the final exam. On top of the fact that this was during COVID and online school, one would think that the professor would be sympathetic due to this. He could not have been more unsympathetic. I ended up with an 88.17% and got curved down to a B. This happened to many other students as well. Another student got a 90.63% and ended up with a B+. The overall class average was 85%, but this should not justify grade deflation. The other professor that taught physics this semester was Bellave Shivaram, who also does not have the best reviews either. In short, please only take this class if you need it for premed. It is extremely emotionally draining and will take a heavy toll on your mental health. Your options for physics professors are unfortunately very limited. But the truth is, take it during the semester rather than during the summer. I took PHYS 2010 with Atsushi Yoshida during summer 2020, and it was substantially worse.
