I took his Major Seminar (The Second World War) in Fall 2016 as my history major colloquium. Professor Schuker is one of the most knowledgeable people at this university and that's really helpful when you're trying to get started on your research. His classes have very little structure and act more as discussions that rely on you to do the work outside of class. He's someone who comments pretty harshly on your writing, but only to help you improve. At the end of the day Schuker is an easy grader if you show you put in the effort. Some might say his classes are tangential, but I really appreciate the knowledge he shares about subjects because nothing in history happens by itself. I genuinely enjoyed going to class. He can be a bit more conservative than other professors in the department, but it never hinders the class discussion.
