An interesting history class with much relevance to the world of today. Naftali's style provides an interesting narrative of history, Haines is a bit more factual. Your grade depends on an ID quiz, 50 minute essay-midterm, a final. Attendance and particiaption during discussion is also considered. This semester's course is more difficult than it used to be because you are no longer given the test questions beforehand.
Somewhat interesting class. Haines is more entertaining than most professors here at uva. Reading is really dry for the most part, but pretty optional if you go to class and copy the lecture slides which he doesn't put online. It helps to be able to write/type fast because he flies through his slides during lecture.
