This class was amazingly interesting and informative. Professors Naftali and Haines presented a large amount of information through interesting lectures and guest speakers. Much of the reading really isn't necessary, some IDs on the exams will come from them but most of the class is based upon the lecture. I would definitely advise anyone from any major to take this class.
Every semester this class has 3 or 4 times as many people wanting to take it than they can let in. The team-taught lecture is great fun, because it mixes things up, and the subject matter is just good information to know about your government. Don't buy the books, just study the terms and memorize them. The essays you can do if you pay attention at all in class.
This class is really easy and really interesting. Haines and Naftali both teach as a side job - they also hold very prominent positions with the CIA and government. They bring in great guest speakers and are great lecturers themselves. A pool of exams questions are given out in advance, so if you study what they give you, an A is ridiculously easy to get.
This class is so interesting, learning about the CIA, its operations all over the world and other foreign intelligence agency. There is a lot of material for the one midterm and final, but they gave us a study guide. I heard though that they don't give a study guide anymore and that the class now has a discussion section, so I guess it's a little different now.
