First, do not take this course unless you think you'll be majoring in ECON. It's not an easy A, its not a fun elective, it's a weed out class and the content is difficult to understand for people on sorts of different spectrums. However, if you need to take 301, take it with Westerfield, 100%. Although it was obviously difficult, I don't think I've learned more in any other class than in college. Bottom line, always going to be hard course, but Westerfield makes it the easiest to understand. Her class however, is a lot more work than the other 301 professors, buttttt with that means you're always reviewing the material and it makes sure you're on track and prepared well for the exam.
- Group problem sets, 7.5% (make sure you attempt it on your own before coming to discussion; 6 per semester)
- Online homework, 7.5% (like Webwork, around 30-40 questions, ONE ATTEMPT and more concept based. You have to very careful - very easy to drop below 90-85% on these, 6 per semester)
- Questions of the day, 5% (at the end of each class, she asks a clicker like question, easy 5 points)
- On-Call, 5% (4 times a semester, you're on call for the day and she'll ask you on the spot questions about the chapter)
- Two exams, each 20% (Very fair if you put time into studying and doing review problems which she provides)
- Final exam, 35% (extremely long and would not have been so bad if it wasn't so long - did not finish)
