This class was a blessing. You didn't learn anything so if you tried really really hard and put in a lot of hours you'd end up with an A-, if you sat back and relaxed and did your hw you'll get a B+ or so. How to do well? Study the night before and read the shit out of his practice exam, then make your cheat sheet based on that. All in all, low priority course
I hate to blast Professor Green cause he's such a nice guy, but some people just shouldn't be professors. If you're taking this class, you're likely required to take it so you don't really have a choice, but just be warned, Professor Green is an awful professor. He just talks in circles all class and derives things all day that just make everyone more confused. No one ever knew what was going on and when questions were asked, he just made it more confusing when he answered them. He rarely did example problems and when he did he would get halfway through the problems, realize he made a mistake, and just not finish the problem. Homeworks were extremely difficult and definitely helps if you have a good group to work with, but will probably still take you hours on Sunday afternoons. Tests are impossible, but if you write whatever you know down you'll get good partial credit and he curves a lot. Like I said, good guy, abysmal teacher.
Green is a bad professor. Possibly my worst professor at UVA. He is such a nice guy and does try to help, but he does not seem to know how to help. His office hours are a mess, he is never prepared, his lectures aren't organized and he is always late. He was unprofessional. If you have to take this class for ChemE, hope that you have a good TA who can help you get through the homeworks. Go to TA office hours, make a good cheat sheet for the test with example problems from the homeworks. The class is curved, most people do fine with minimal understanding fo the material because Green does not allow full understanding to be acheieved.
Green was the worst professor I've had at UVA. Routinely cancels office hours, has trouble handling questions about the course material in class, and has almost no structure to his lectures. When he does do examples in class, they're often group work that never gets completed, and most students don't know what is going on. Do not take this class unless you have to, and if you're in chemE, good luck.
