Dr. Zunder absolutely loves what he does and his passion for his work and his students is clear. This class is A LOT of work and memorization but I overall enjoyed it. He can be sort of vague about requirements for assignments but his office hours is a great resource and he is always approachable and considerate.
He does not care about the class. Just today, he posted the pre-lecture video, which he requires us to read, at 2am the night before the class. He cannot explain the most basic of concepts in his class without stumbling over his words or going on a tangent about things that are completely irrelevant to the class.
This class was one of the more challenging classes of second year, but that's mostly attributed to how dense the course is. You cover a lot of material in one lecture alone, so the weekly quizzes that you can choose instead of the exam became extra stressful. Dr. Zunder really wants to help and makes himself available during office hours, yet sometimes isn't the best at explaining in a way that is easily understood. However, he suggested that studying and talking about the information with at least one other person is the best way to study for the quizzes and exams, and that proved to be true for me. I found that my quarterly grades improved throughout the year, partly because of the group studying and partly because you tend to get better at taking the quizzes. As for the paper, starting early is the best piece of advice I received. The TAs don't grade it super harshly (as long as there is obvious effort put into it), but it's much better to try your best on the rough draft so you aren't drowning in work when you have to write the final. Overall, I learned a lot in the class and really enjoyed it, even the paper. Just be prepared to put the work in.
