Dr. Barker is such a great professor. Super understanding of everyones needs. The class is easier than Physio 1 and less information to learn. There are also a lot of group projects and team discussion posts. I recommend taking Physio 2 with Dr. Barker because she makes it easy to pass the class with a good grade and still come out the course having learned.
This class is completely different from Physiology I. I hardly learned anything which frustrated me, but if you're a student who doesn't care much for learning and prefers easy A's, this is the instructor for you.
PROS:
- This semester (Spring '24), all exams were open-note and take home. Weekly quizzes were take-home with unlimited submissions. If you turn everything in, you're guaranteed an A in this course
- Shannon Barker is probably a good connection to have since she's high up in BME administration
CONS:
- You won't learn anything
- Shannon Barker cancels class frequently, during which her grad TA will lecture the course. Sometimes the grad TA knows a lot about the material. Sometimes it feels like they didn't glance at the slides before the lecture.
GRADE BREAKDOWN:
10% Online Quizzes (1% each)
12% Discussion Summaries (2% each)
30% Unit Exams (15% each)
19% Brain-Computer Interface Project
19% Biomedical Disparity Infographic Project
10% Peer Evaluations (#1 at 0%, #2 at 10%)
