This class was my "easy A" class in conjunction with biochemistry and physics, but it ended up being my lowest grade this semester and was a disappointing course. It seems like this class is easy because the lab worksheets are graded by completion, but the quizzes were not always fairly graded. My TA was not very good, especially when I tried to ask questions on the material, and most of the TAs didn't bother giving any legitimate feedback on the worksheets because they were completion grades. I wish Kittlesen had pushed his TAs to give us more comments because in the long run it hurt us more than it helped us.
Pros: labs were usually only 1-2 hours, lab worksheets are graded for completion, prelab lectures usually get out in 45 minutes, the labs are pretty cool and if you have a good group it can be fun.
Cons: grading. It's pretty easy to get an A- (read the manual thoroughly and take good lecture notes) but quite difficult to crack an A. He likes to throw random questions onto the weekly quizzes, and an A is a 94.
This class was really good. The labs rarely lasted over an hour, and the lab lectures got out early too. If you study an hour or two before lab lecture quizzes, you will do fine on them. Worksheets were easy and Kittlesen made them completion based halfway through the semester. The final was a breeze. The only hard part about this class is that you need a 93.5 to get an A. It's an easy B+, pretty easy A-, and kinda hard A.
