This class is really fun with Professor Elliott! The discussions are engaging and the topics are interesting. The course load is also quite light. Elliott is definitely not afraid to delve into quite controversial topics. While he definitely welcomes everyone to express their own opinions, know that he will advocate his own as well (something I honestly don't mind as much as some people, I've had great instructors on both sides of the political aisle that advocated their own views in class). Elliott definitely also likes to talk in the class discussions a lot more than he admits, but it takes some of the pressure off always needing something to say and I still always enjoyed the discussions.
This class was great. Professor Elliot really cares about his students, and always tried his best to engage the classroom during discussion. If you want to do well, just do the readings and participate. You're at the very least guaranteed a B, but it's not too difficult to get an A either. Can't recommend this guy enough.
Professor Elliott's lectures were engaging and interesting (though some topics really made me uncomfortable). I took STS 4500 and 4600 with him and how much you like the lectures really depends on your acceptance of completely different/ridiculous opinions. We discussed hot topics, including abortion, environmental impacts, vaccines etc. Professor Elliott's views were very republican and conservative, and although he said he was open to any perspectives, I think he tried to advocate his views during classes.
