Gorman is very smart and knowledgeable professor. However, he almost seems too smart for a class like this. He does not require much work at all, usually just a weekly or biweekly forum post. He announces a generally interesting and rather current subject/topic every week and loves having discussions about it during class. However, that's all that happens during class. It is really just him talking and classmates raising their hands to speak about it. For a few weeks we did watch Chernobyl, which was pretty fun. He is also very unorganized and surprisingly technologically inept. He never really grades anything on time, fails to organize folders and documents well on Collab, and really didn't even have a syllabus for the class. He is very ambiguous and unclear with what is required for each part of the thesis and ultimately just confuses the class, which results in last minute panicking. He gave me a poor grade on my prospectus, the main component of your grade for this class, and left barely any comments as to why. He is very smart and loves discussing current events, but i would strongly suggest picking another professor if you desire a more organized and cadenced thesis experience.
P.S. I had him for both 4500 and 4600, my entire 4th-year thesis experience.
