This class is a great English class. Notice I said "english" and not STS. She's an english professor by training and graded all the papers as such - got almost not feedback about content - everything about sentences mechanics and grammar etc. She makes you do a grammar workbook in class everyday too. The way she "teaches" STS is by having you read articles and write about them in extremely weird essays. She also has this weird grading mark-up language that requires a "key" to decipher when you get papers back which was a pain to deal with. Talked about maybe two STS frameworks, while other classes got through a lot more and seemed better prepared for their STS research papers. She's a wonderful woman and super well read and has wonderful stories she uses to derail class with (as the previous comment mentioned) and even apparently invites student to her house for dinner but still. Overall a worthwhile class if you like writing and reading about the liberal arts and the like and want to improve in that realm, but not my cup of tee. Look elsewhere if you want legit training in STS and to be better prepared for your STS research paper.
She really enjoys talking about her life and completely derailing the class. Acts insecure whenever STS is mentioned in a bad light. Very sweet, but assigns weird papers to write and doesn't adequately prepare you to write a prospectus (no annotated bibliography is assigned, she focuses more on analyzing interesting STS essays). Do not expect to receive papers back any time soon. Not the worst STS professor to have, but certainly not the best.
