Previously had no programming experience so took a while to get used to the notes and flow of the class. Homework assignments weren't too bad; sometimes took a while, but usually weren't too frustrating. Working with other students was encouraged. Working in pairs was allowed on midterms. Professor was very careful on what questions he would answer about the projects. Tended to be frustrating because they did not look like anything we had covered in the class notes or other homework assignments. The final was especially frustrating because it required us to combine multiple techniques and the questions were difficult to understand. Also, not allowed to work in pairs. The professor was organized and displayed knowledge of the topic.
This is a great class! I'd never done any sort of programming before, but Spitzner is very well organized and his notes are all written in code which makes it so much easier to become familiar with SAS. There are homework sets assigned every 2 weeks and they aren't too bad, especially if you look through the notes as you do them. Midterms are projects that you work on in pairs and they aren't bad either.
