SPAN 4700

Currently enrolled in this course (SPAN 4700; Spring 2024) and couldn't wait until it ended to give it a great review. Prof. Moore is an excellent instructor; I am usually hesitant to take culture courses with non-native speakers, but prof. Moore absolutely blew it out of the park. She is extremely respectful, knowledgeable, and engaging. The course isn't extremely difficult; some readings can be dense, but the majority of films/readings are relatively interesting and provide a diverse range of perspectives. The class is discussion-based, and you'll do two small (and easy) presentations throughout the course of the semester, and some larger projects towards the end of the semester. The only super time-consuming part of this course is watching the films/documentaries, but none exceed 2 hours and you have ample notice to find time to watch them over a weekend/whenever works for you. I would 100% recommend this course; it's fun, engaging, and super interesting. Prof. Moore is fantastic and she does an amazing job facilitating meaningful conversation, supporting her students, and enriching the course with her knowledge. If you get the chance to take this course and Prof. Moore happens to be instructing, take it with her.
