SPAN 2020

Professor Villanueva is really nice and she creates an environment that is really conducive to learning, as she focuses a lot on group work and you spend a lot of class time sharpening your skills. If you take SPAN 2020 with her and put in the effort you will notice that your Spanish skills improve over the course of the semester. I would recommend taking SPAN 2020 with her.

Professor was fine, but this class in general is horrible. Needs restructuring because it really took the fun out of learning spanish

Take this class with her. She's a native speaker, which makes it much easier to learn Spanish from her. She also a great teacher; always prepared, always makes class fun, and is always willing to help students. On top of that, Professor Garcia is literally the nicest professor I've had at UVA. Very easy to talk to, always seems happy, and always understands circumstances. I doubt I would've enjoyed the class half as much if I had had a different professor. As for the class itself, its a fair amount of work, but the grading is fairly easy. If you do all the work, you'll notice that your Spanish does noticeably improve over the course of the semester.

Great professor! Always in a good mood and energetic to teach the course. She makes the class time as enjoyable as possible and clearly cares about her students and the course. Very nice, very approachable, and very fair as well. As others said, the class has a decent amount of outside work but the grading is always understanding. My Spanish has definitely improved over the semester, highly recommend taking with her.

TAKE SPAN 2020 WITH ZAIDA!! She is so great and loves teaching and her students. She teaches very well and is extremely nice. She even rounded my grade up at the end of the semester.

Profesora Garcia is very nice and does her best to make the class enjoyable, but the curriculum designed for the class is the worst. There is typically homework due both before and after each class, so it is due almost every night. It takes up so much time to not even be that difficult. If it weren't so pointlessly time consuming, maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but it is. It was my least favorite class and an A is a 96, so even though this class was my highest grade at a 95.6, I got an A-. It sucks but a lot of people have to take it, so try to take it with this professor.

I was extremely nervous going into SPAN2020 because it had been awhile since I studied spanish and I could not have chosen a better professor. She is genuinely the sweetest and really cares about her students. She is very approachable and wants all her students to succeed. She likes to start her classes with meditation or yoga sometimes and it may seem silly at first but it just shows how much she wants us to feel comfortable and relaxed when we are in her class. Nevertheless, this is still SPAN2020 so the work will be a lot at times but I considered her a pretty easy grader when it came to our bigger projects.
