Professor Hogg was so sweet. She tried her best to make sure all students were engaged, however, she didn't pick on students to answer questions which I REALLY appreciated. The homework is a lot but not too bad. The entire language department has roughly the same amount of hw, therefore, the hw is unavoidable if you wanna take a language class. On average, I spent roughly an hour each day on the hw assignments. There are roughly four exams and one final exam. Exams are not too bad if you know all the vocabulary and grammar structures.
Absolutely loved Hogg as a professor! She was really nice and made the class engaging. Make sure that you continue on in the class if you get worried about the homework. When you start the Contraseña activities it seems like hours on end of work, but around half of the assignments aren't required! Only check the ones that are due the next morning. Make sure you talk to her in office hours if you are ever thinking about dropping the class, because this class was honestly a lot less than I initially thought. It's definitely hard to get an A, being that you have to get a 96 minimum, but if you keep up with assignments then you can finish the class strong. I read these same reviews before I went into the class, and they were so perfectly honest about what I should expect, so I would definitely say you should trust the ratings. Kieep it up!
Professor Hogg is extremely and helpful and understanding. She was always happy to answer my questions and wants her students to succeed. Know that the class is a lot of work, but the tests are manageable since you are given a descriptive test topics sheet. The difficulty depends on your prior experience with Spanish, as students start off with different skill levels (it was the most intro course available this fall). However, it's very possible to get at least an A-, even if you haven't taken Spanish for very long. Overall, I would recommend this course and professor.
Professor Hogg is very nice and tries to keep the class engaging. Usually, for class she will have a PowerPoint on the board with activities to practice that week's material, where we often work in pairs or groups. There is quite a bit of work but it's definitely not difficult at all. We have online practice every night (about 1 hour of work), an online speaking session over video every other week, and a few projects- don't let the amount of work scare you, it is extremely easy. Our tests are also very easy because they are mostly multiple choice/ fill in the blank, and she puts out a review that breaks down the exam according to what each section will be over, how many points it's worth, and what type of questions she'll be using.
