A great class for anyone interested in learning of South Asia's rich history through probably the most interesting means possible, literature. The course was fun, readings were interesting and diverse to the point that I learned a great deal of many different aspects of South Asian culture and history. I went to J-term in India to study Indian Society and Politics after taking this course in the fall, and thought it was a great foundation to build off of. I would recommend the course for those interested in the topic.
She's an excellent professor. Very knowledgeable. I thoroughly enjoyed her class and felt that I was in the time period of the Partition because the reading was always interesting, besides the occasional article here and there. Overall, it draws in different perspectives one wouldn't really consider. The midterm isn't bad. Make sure to take fairly good notes. Weekly papers are graded easily as long as you put effort into them. Final was great (8-10 pages) but the reading was challenging and fun.
