Overall a good class. Lectures could be hard to follow at times as Groner kind of rambles on and on. Exams weren't terribly difficult after he got rid of the ID/fill in the blank. There was a pretty excessive amount of reading; as a rule of thumb if he didn't talk about it in lecture, you don't need to read it.
Prof Groner enjoys telling cheesy little jokes during his lectures, sometimes endearing and sometimes mildly creepy (he dotes on frat party jokes)... quite interesting to learn about Zen Buddhism, but you do not need to do the readings to do well on exams. Exams are essay based, he gives you an outline at the beginning of lecture to form your notes (you dont even need to take notes, just study the outline). the TA's say that giving the correct answer will get you a B and giving them something that wows them, going beyond the correct answer gets you an A. Interesting subject but the class is harder than i thought it would be (grading wise)
While it was easy to fall asleep during lecture and I sometimes found the material boring, looking back on it this was a great class. Learned a lot about viewing the world in a completely different way. Pretty neat. Meditated for a few minutes in every discussion. Also not too difficult, but not a piece of cake.
