I went into the semester thinking this would be my favorite class; i couldn't have been more wrong. Lectures were boring at best. Discussion even worse, response papers due every week- impossible to do well on them. Watch out for the curve on the exams, not always favorable! I learned nothing and received my lowest grade of any of my classes.

The class was AWFUL. The lectures were pointless since everything was posted on a slide in a dark lecture hall. It's much harder than you would expect. I definitely would NOT recommend this class

You read the entire book by the end of the semester, but Prof. Patterson breaks up the readings pretty well so its not too much all at one time. Discussion section was pretty pointless but you have to go and it counts fo 25% of your grade. I'm pretty sure the TA's make up the tests which are pretty random at times. The last test, especially, was really poorly written-it included questions from footnotes in the book! But overall its not that difficult of a class but you have to do the readings, go to lecture, and watch the multimedia cd if you want to get an A.

Good, solid class- The tests are straightforward, the subject matter is interesting & applicable, and Patterson's lectures are a nice mixture of powerpoint and media. Pretty easy but not a gut - response papers due almost every week, a project, and a fair amount of reading (but what you'd expect from a 200 psych class).

Patterson is an amazing professor whose enthusiasm is infectious! Definitely take child psych with her!

This class is wonderful, especially if you like kids, and has great TA's. I would definitely recommend it for one of the 200-level groups required for the major. The section requires a weekly reaction paper, but they are only one page long and very easy! The reading isn't difficult and the tests aren't so bad either.

Tests had nothing to do with lectures...and they were poorly written. Avoid her.
