This is a Literature class in disguise. It's a chaotic mess. All we did was read the book, discuss the book, and teach ourselves the grammar. The texts were difficult to understand and there were daily reading quizzes to test your knowledge on the reading. The reading questions came straight from the comprehension questions in the book and the discussion questions also came from the book. Save yourself the trouble of taking the class and go through the $70 book yourself. (Um passo mais no Português).
There were 6 tests, all from the book. Sometimes she would add topics last minute to our test that were LISTS of vocabulary, and they had to basically be memorized. The vocab was not related to any Spanish words, so if you didn't memorize the ENTIRE list (sometimes 3-4 pages worth), you were screwed. She did offer test corrections, to be made up on the next test. There were 3 compositions: a narrative, a literary analysis, and a 5 page research paper that was our final. We had to give 2 presentations on the authors from the book, and a final 5-10 minute presentation about our final paper topic. If we got a rubric for the project, it was buried in one of the million emails we received. We were not taught about HOW to write these things in Portuguese, we just told to do it.
The prof took forever to grade things, and often left things in her office and had to retrieve them from her office mid-class. She does not go over the rubrics in class, and she had to be begged to go over the grammar in class. This is also not related to being back in person, I had her previously and she was equally disorganized then.
Class was as follows: arrive, reading quiz, author presentation, summary of the text, small group discussion, whole class sharing of what we discussed, end of class. Imagine that 3x a week for the entire semester.
Now if you can handle having homework thrown at you less than 12 hours before your class, it's honestly a fine class. It's a small class size, so you get really close with your classmates, and I enjoyed it. Ultimately, this class was the single biggest cause of my stress this semester, and I took some 4000 level writing courses.
If you're passionate about Portuguese literature, this class is fun. Just don't be expecting to be taught about anything other than how to discuss incredibly dense Portuguese texts.

Profesora Lilian is really understanding in this course. From 2120 to 3010 was a bit of a jump in regards to the level of reading comprehension required, but overall the class was relatively easy and fun. If you are looking for a class that fulfills the humanities req and language, this is a good class to take
