I wouldn't recommend this class to a first year (like I was when I took it), but it's definitely a great class if you're interested in history and law (obviously). McCurdy is incredible and makes the lectures interesting even with the most dense material.

Professor McCurdy is a really engaging lecturer, and the course material is interesting. He uses a 100-point grading scale throughout the semester which makes a good grade hard to earn, but definitely worth taking. The knowledge gained far outweighs the grade sacrificed.

Tough course, but you learn a lot. For each midterm, you have a take home section and an in class section, which leaves you doing double-time for these. Really tough to get an A, but worth taking regardless. McCurdy is a great lecturer.

What's to say about this class that is not already said? It is an incredible ride. McCurdy is amazing. It is extremely difficult. If you put in the work you will get loads out of the class. Thanks Professor McCurdy!

Best class I have taken at UVA. McCurdy is AMAZING! I wish he weren't retiring after this Spring. The man is such a legend. I have never worked so hard in a class before but it really paid off! I learned more than I ever thought I could in one semester. Erik Erlandson is an awesome TA!
