This is one of the best courses at UVa. McCurdy is an incredible lecturer, though he moves quickly. The material is fairly dense and there is a lot of reading. Keep up on the readings, pay attention in lectures AND discussions, and think though it critically, and you can get an A without too much difficulty. Overall, it can be a stressful class, but it's incredibly rewarding. It will completely change your perspective on law, the philosophy of law, and the Constitution.
In retrospect, this class was not as difficult as I thought when I was taking it, mostly because I let the reading pile up. But the work, while there is a lot of it, is manageable. That doesn't mean that this is an easy class IN ANY WAY but an A is definitely possible with hard work. McCurdy is great but be ready to write about 2 1/2 to 4 pages of detailed notes per lecture. If you have any interest in history or law, this class is very rewarding.
