Professor Mokoko is wonderful and UVA is incredibly lucky to have him. The professor cares a lot about his students, and his positive energy and respect is easily recognized across grounds. As for ENWR 2520, the curriculum in the class is meaningful and healing. The class is mainly discussions regarding a variety of interesting readings, and 2 main projects. Both projects were honestly super beneficial to my learning and growth: first project is creating a digital presentation (sounds hard but is super easy and he guides you through it) regarding an issue you're passionate about, second project is writing a paper about social justice. Both projects are super open-ended and it's up to you to make what you want out of the projects, and I saw many students find a sense of healing through their projects about real world issues. Overall, Prof is super chill and wise - he's really flexible, kind, and wise so I highly recommend taking his class.
The professor was a bit outrageous at times with the statements he was making. He is a really nice guy but expect this to be a trauma dumping class because he wants you to trauma dump to get a good grade. Professor did not utilize Canvas to allow us to see the grades or feedback we were receiving on our assignments. The professor would have random outbursts of vocalized anger and frustration because the class was asking clarifying questions about the assignments. #tCFS24
