This course involves creating one huge production stage manager's binder which is kind of fun and tedious at the same time. It's not hard, just very time consuming. But the professor gives rubrics with clearly outlined checklists, so if you follow everything correctly, this class is an easy A+. There is also a lab requirement which involves working either run crew (tech or props) or costume crew, depending on the length of the play this can add up to an additional 35-50 hours of your time that is worth 15% of your grade. Overall, this course isn't difficult but isn't worth it if you're not looking to be a drama major/minor or willing to put in the time demanded (especially for only 3 credit hours). Lectures are pretty laid back and most things you learn in the class are useful, like managing people and creating paperwork (for business majors).
Caitlin McLeod is awesome. She has the best stories about her experiences as a stage manager. They're funny, they're interesting, and they make points all of us could learn from. This class replicates actual stage managing and producing experience as much as possible, so it's really useful if you want to become a producer or a stage manager, or if you want to gain some leadership and organization skills :)
