I took Software Development Methods with Horton, and I honestly don't even know where to start with this class. The development methods we are taught are archaic and based off of waterfall methodology, but we barely even cover that. I am writing this review with only 7 weeks left in the semester, and we got our first programming assignment last week. Lecture is boring and almost nothing meaningful is ever taught in this class.
I took Software Development Methods with Professor Horton. I don't know where to start... Let's start with the 80's, where things from this class might have been useful. 40 years ago, the standard for CS projects was to plan out the entire project all at once, then do it, with no updates along the way. Since the field of computer science and software engineering grew, industry quickly realized this was a horrible idea... which is why it's interesting that this seems to be the style taught by a class supposedly designed to teach modern software development methods. According to google, a dinosaur is "a person or thing that is outdated or has become obsolete because of failure to adapt to changing circumstances." Seems a pretty fitting definition for Horton.
