Seriously great class! Very informative and makes you apply the knowledge and not just regurgitate it. Some will say, "the tests were hard," or, "the material is hard." It's a 4000 level bio that's double listed as a grad class. Don't come in expecting a cake walk and be surprised when the Prof wants you to actually understand the material. If you like the material and put in the time, the class is extremely rewarding!
This class was interesting. Dr. K covers four neurological disorders: MS, SCI, medulloblastoma, and a disease chosen by the class. With that being said, there were 5 exams in the class, the final is cumulative, and the exams are all short-answer to essays. I thought that this class was fairly straightforward, but I occasionally lost arbitrary points on the exams. You really have to understand the material (and not just memorize) to do well. I would definitely recommend this class though because Dr. K is really nice and open to discussion and the material is very interesting.
Great class, very interesting course material. Dr. K is fun to listen to and has a lot of interesting stuff to say. Requires some reading of primary source articles and emphasizes class participation and discussion, but all the literature is very current. If you're interested in learning about neurodegenerative diseases and the research behind them, it is very possible to do well on her tests. She is very approachable and willing to talk to you outside of class if you don't understand something, as well.
