Acting 1 is NOT an easy A. Probably an easy A-/B+. I really enjoyed the class, performing many different types of scenes (monologues, 2 person scenes, open scenes, multi person scenes)., and learning more about how to become a better actor even though I am not a Drama Major. My TA, Kevin Minor, was very cool and I really liked him but he graded very hard. Be prepared to write a good amount with A LOT of detail. You have to do written work for each scene you do and 5 prompted responses plus an optional 6th prompted response. He would tell the entire class we did well on our scenes but most of us would end up with a 5/6 or lower. You have to give an Oscar worthy performance to get a 100 on any scene you do. All in all, great class but not easy at all.
KEVIN IS THE BEST! He pushes you out of your comfort zone and guides you to be the best performer you can be. This class is extremely fun, but DON'T BE FOOLED! This class is by no means easy! Kevin will not give you an A unless you are the next Meryl Streep or Morgan Freeman. You have to be extremely aware and detailed with your responses, but doing this work really improves your attention to detail and ability to work with depth of emotion within a character. You also become really close with your classmates through all of the games and group work (and anxiety over grades). I am so glad that I took this class with Kevin, and if I could I would not change one thing. Only take this class if you are ready to put in the work that is beyond your best effort, in addition to being ready to have fun and tell stories. As far as I know, most people from my class got grades from a B to an A-, and I know that my class was very hardworking.
