MUST READ: the grades above are wrong. you will most likely NOT get an A, statically impossible to get an good grade for what this class really is based on the data released from the spring 217 semester (link below). the drama department is trying to change its dumb image from a useless department to a officiated liberal arts sorta prestigious thing. so the class is really hard compared to last year, plenty of kids got Bs. This, class depends on the TA cause they be teaching this/. Some of them hand out 100s while others only give out Bs. My class was hard, like I did my best and tried a lot but the grades did not reflect it. its a 95 for an A. this is like a B/B+ class and it takes extra to get above that. warning. good experience but ur grade wont reflect tit unless you get a good TA. i had to stay after every other class and work alot outside. the grades on the curseforum are not updated for like the last 2 years.....so good luck, if ur looking for an easy A take a music class. I am put more work in this class than i did in calc so be prepared to work alot. my TA literally told us that if she would not give above a B+ to the entire class and had a regressive grading system. you had to suck up hard to get a good grade........Courseforum grade distributions are bs. here is something i pulled from the database: http://vagrades.com/view?class=DRAM2020
of the students that did not drop, in my section and my friends class
2 A's, 2 A-'s, 5 B+'s, 5 B's, 1 C+...............1 A, 6 A-, 5 B+, 1 B, 1 C-. these stats are the same with most upper level cs classes and math classes. i got an A- cause i payed the game to win but for those that are not willing to sell your soul to the devil, be a teachers pet, or suck up to TA's, run, run away and never look back. rest the souls of the seniors that took this class for an essay A and got a C but are still got a job at Goldman Sachs ..
difficulty in terms of other classes(effort):
media studies <any music class <Calc II < Econ Micro < DRAMA 2020 == chem + bio lab < cs 2150 < Genetics and Molecular Biology
Easiest class I have ever taken here. Showing up gets you 30% of your grade its that easy. I never once saw Kelly instead it is taught by a grad student. Mine left and she could be kind of mean at times, but overall it was still a class that is meant to be fun and expose you to all aspects of acting and theatre. I loved all the people in the class and the small class meant by the end we were all very close and even friends.
Don't be fooled: you aren't being taught by Colleen Kelly. You are taught by an MFA graduate student. Because of this the class can be hit or miss based on how experienced the graduate students are at running a class. That being said, I had an excellent experience and would recommend it to anyone. You get to know and trust everyone in the 14-person class and you can take the class with 0 prior acting experience or if you have acted your entire life.
