I didn't dislike the class. There is a 3 phase group project that wasnt horribly difficult (draft of a report, final draft of a report, video about your topic). Homework wasnt too difficult, you have 2 weeks to do it usually from the time he assigns it. The teacher is very nice and wants to help his students, but he also asks you to go to a site and download something just to show you something on your own computer. He had one or two surprise quizzes, but they were discontinued.
Ibrahim is incredibly nice and willing to help. However, I found the course pretty dry, despite the fact he tried to make it more exciting with videos and hands-on exercises. He doesn't record lectures in order to make it so that you have to show up to do okay. 50% of the class grade are easy homeworks and a semester-long group project that consists of a report and a video. I'm not a fan of video projects, so I didn't particularly enjoy that, but they're basically graded on completion and following instructions/deadlines. Overall, I feel like I learned a little conceptually about network security, but not as much as I would've liked. The labs give you fully set up VMs and tell you exactly what to type into the command line which doesn't really help you learn what's actually happening.
