Basically most of the class is driven by the homework and lab. Stankovic and his partner Soclovsky are both fairly dull lecturers but the material isn't difficult to grasp if you read the textbook. The textbook is dull though, so google a lot.
Really not hard to get an A on, just try to work with a friend on the homeworks, makes it easier
It's not the most interesting material in the world, but Stankovic does a decent job of making it tolerable. Lectures are pretty dry, but he knows his stuff and responds well to questions when people ask them. Homeworks are pretty straightforward, not a whole lot of surprises and labs are pretty frustrating since the software used is atrocious.
Test averages were in the low 80's, so it's not too difficult to do well. Comparatively speaking, he's a hell of a lot better than Socolovsky so if you have to take this, definitely go with him rather than Socolovsky who's a complete trainwreck.
If you have ever been to Prof. Soclovsky's class, you would know that Prof. Stankovic is a much better and more articulate lecturer. I found his drawings in class were helpful to understanding of the course material. Although you still have to read a lot of textbook outside class, and memorize the minute details to do well in tests. Comp Arch is not the most fun course but it exposes you to a lot of stuff that lie under the hood, which I personally find interesting and useful to know.
