The COLA I took was called College! and I cannot recommend it more highly. The thing that made this course was the instructor, Bo. He wouldn't hesitate to deviate from his plan for the day and just talk about whatever the class wanted to talk about. One day, we spent an entire hour complaining about how bad summer enrollment was and he voice-recorded the whole thing so that he could share it with those in charge of that process. He took actual interest in our lives and provided great advice. The course itself was extremely easy. All you had to do each week was write a short entry in a journal that he provided (but never checked) and occasionally do a reading. The things you were graded on including showing up to your two advising appointments during the semester, a scenario where you pretended to be a student in a wheelchair that needed to find an accessible route from one end of Grounds to the other, and a scenario where you were given a bio of a high school senior and researched what opportunities would make UVA a good (or bad) school choice for them. There was also a final project where you had to design a model of college student growth, but for our class, because of the November 13th shooting, that project was made optional. Bo is an extremely kind human being and you'll be so happy to get to know him. This is by far the best COLA you could take. #tCFfall22
