Edith is amazing. She's full of countless stories and experiences and it's worth taking the class just for her. But in the end you really end up getting ONLY experience of Edith, and a bit of experience with shamanistic practices, and not necessarily much of a scholarly background on shamanism. Which is fine, if that's what you're into.

Not much work at all, just one book report (oral) and one final paper (easy).

class starts out great with hands on activities. lectures, though, can get tedious and hard to follow especially because room is so hot. edith is very interesting but she'd be better one on one than in a classroom setting

There's an oral book report. We did a lot of interesting hands on activities that the non open-minded might not enjoy. Great class and great subject matter

This class is so much fun!! Its more about experiencing new things and learning about yourself, so its a really enjoyable break from classes that are more work-intensive

This is the best class at UVA; Edie is so sweet and so knowledgeable and puts more focus on students having fun and learning than being tested. Weekly book reports were interesting and not too hard to prepare for. I love the small setting that really let us get to know Edie and each other. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
