Orgo is one of those classes you need to suffer through in order to apply for med school / grad school. Burnett is, without a doubt, the best teacher for it. He gives fair tests and is always straightforward (no tricks!) It's easy to prepare for the tests, because they follow the practice ones. He is also the nicest professor I've had to date. He learns everyone's name and always asks how you're doing/ waves to you outside of class. He is great!! dont take this class with any other professor or you will want to die (especially if youre stuck in orgo lab)
Bob is the man! He loves ORGO and now I do too. His teaching style involves alot of quirky jokes which makes you laugh at 9:30 in the morning. He learns your name and actually wants to talk to you if he sees you outside of his class. The tests are not bad at all if you study beforehand and make sure you do the suggested problems. The homework and quizzes are nice because they count about the same as a test grade and also keep you on your shoes so you don't get behind. There is no curve so you get what you get. I even got a 106/105 on my final when officially there was no extra credit. There are surprises but not on the tests. I thought you were supposed to hate ORGO but I actually might major in chemistry because of how easy he makes it. TAKE HIM!
O-chem is definitely a difficult class, but taking it with Burnett makes it more manageable. I didn't do as well as I wanted to because although I understand things during lectures, I didn't do as much practice. My advice is to really do the suggested problems, go over the notes, memorize those reactions, and go through the practice tests thoroughly.
Orgo is supposed to be one of the most difficult parts of the pre-med curriculum. I entered the class with plenty of nerves and worries - all of which turned out to be completely ungrounded. Professor Burnett makes this class almost too easy. His lectures are clear and interesting and he makes jokes so the 9:30 classes are all the more manageable. There are only a few homework sets and they are all simple. Quizzes and tests are very straightforward and a lot of the questions come from the practice in the book or the practice tests. If you can take orgo with Professor Burnett, do it!
