chem lab sucks!!!!!!!! they purposely grade super hard to make all of the premeds want to drop out and the class is super dumb! all you do is measure water and code in a fake language, mathematica, where you copy and paste Lisa's code that doesn't work. overall this class was a 0/10 would not recommend but it's required for e-school so good luck.
Lisa could have been a great professor but I only saw her once. Everything else was conducted by TA's. I didn't really have a problem with that, though. Other than that, I can't really complain about the class. Chem lab isn't supposed to be particularly fun, although we didn't really do any advanced experiments. One of our experiments was about measuring water. Still, can't complain about the easiness of the class.
My biggest beef with this class is that it expects that you've taken AP Chem right out of the gate, even though a lot of people take this without having taken it. It's also pretty harshly graded, and it's a real struggle if you aren't a big fan of writing lab reports. If you're a big fan of lab classes, I think you might enjoy this class.
Didn't really talk to the professor at all but my TAs were knowledgeable and fun. Lab covered pretty basic chemistry requirements and wasn't challenging but got the required credit. Just take it whatever time fits best because you have workshop for 1hr every other week and a full lab the opposite days which is ~2hrs
I took this course in 17fall. Honestly speaking, it is stupid af. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE if it's not a requirement!!! If you have to, well, good luck. Most time during the lab you will not see the instructor. Your grade basically depends on the TA of your section. Some of the TAs are really tough on grading(unfortunately, my TA is included) and you are gonna work your ass off and just get a B+ or so for this 1-credit trivial course. Again, DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE if it's not a requirement!!!
This class wasn't that difficult but it was annoying to have to buy the lab coat, goggles, and lab notebook (of which we only used about 10 pages). There were four experiments total and we only had lab every other week. On the other weeks we had workshop where we planned and wrote the procedure for the next experiment with our group. Individual assignments included prelabs to complete before each experiment and postlabs to be completed afterwards. For the first few experiments these were done in Mathematica, but the final postlab was a full written lab report. Other grades we got were for presentations and quizzes. It wasn't the most fun class, but it's a requirement and not too bad especially if you are in a good group. The lab and workshop sessions are run by TAs instead of a professor. If you needed any help, the TAs were good with answering questions about presentations, prelabs, and postlabs during their office hours.
