Professor Grisham is very enthusiastic and readily relates the material to its relevancy in modern issues. Although he is a good professor, he tends to go through slides and calculations quickly in lecture but still expects you to know how to do these calculations in class via clicker questions so COME PREPARED! However for those of you who think he is going to test you on the main components of the chapters BEWARE he likes to use the most obscure information in each chapter for his quizzes. I would recommend Professor Gerrans if you have not taken AP chem and are mathematically challenged or you don't have a friend who is willing to help you that has taken AP chem.

He is a great professor who is very passionate about what he teaches. However, at times I think that he is too passionate--he requires that you learn application info that he calls "chemsitry in your world." I also did not like how he is the only chem 141 professor who does clicker questions.

DO NOT TAKE GRISHAM! TAKE GERRANS! charles is a cute dorky little man, but do not let his quirky and adorable exterior fool you. I survived 141 with a B, but 142 is horrible. During class, i thought i understood things, and usually i did get the concepts, but after studying for what seemed like an eternity and doing ridiculous amounts of practice problems, i got a c 2nd semester! this class is math intensive. I am a good science person (i got an A IN LAB!) but the problems on the quizzes were out of control. especially since the format was multiple choice. do not take this! i am pre-med and it is the worst grade on my transcript.

Great Professor and he's really quirky and interesting. He really cares about making sure you understand the information and cares about teaching chemistry in general. He makes a rather goofy laugh all the time that I thought was hilarious but idk what other people thought haha. His quizzes and final were hard though and a bit tricky even if you were well prepared.

Professor Grisham is a great teacher, I loved his lecture. The keys to his class, and he'll tell you himself is to do problems. Study the MasteringChemistry questions and all the chapter questions at the end of the chapter. Also make sure you read his lecture notes and do the practice problems on there. He posts the slides so studying the lecture notes should be easy enough.

Professor Grisham is a really enthusiastic professor - he really loves chemistry. Class is broken down into weekly online homework (10%), 4 15-question Quiz grades(60%), and one 30-question Final(30%). What that means is every question wrong on a quiz or the final is 1% of your final grade. One thing to remember in this class is that only top 18% get A's.

Great professor, one of the most easibly accessible and willing to help professors I've had at UVA.

He's a great teacher. Lectures are interesting and engaging. Always avaliable during office hours. Easily approachable.
