Grisham is kind of annoying. Especially at 9 am, but he's not a bad teacher. Just make sure you take notes on the random things he says in class.

RUN if you're not a pre-med/science person.

The lecture is super boring, but there are only 3 super short homeworks each week. Sometimes they take only a few minutes and sometimes they can take up to an hour if you struggle with the questions. THe quizzes can be very difficult, but the grades are curved and the lowest quiz grade is dropped.

Grisham was very enthusiastic about the subject. However, he talked a lot about (and quizzed us on) things irrelevant to chemistry, random trivia, history, etc. Moreover, he is a tougher grader than Gerrans (who I would instead recommend). Grisham also simply read off of powerpoints that he got from the textbook company and made available online. The only reason I came to class was to answer clicker questions.

Grisham is a really nice guy and his office hours are really helpful. He gives out clues for the quizzes, so you should sit through any tangents or explanations he gives to get his hints. His quizzes are harder than other Professor's quizzes and he tests you on random facts he talks about in class. He gives out a lot of Cs so if you're not a good multiple choice test taker and/or you're not a Chemistry person, be ready for a hit to your GPA.

Standard intro-level science course. Professor Grisham is enthusiastic and passionate about what he teaches but can sometimes get a little dull in class. Slides are based off the books but there is iClicker participation credit so attendance is recommended. Standard bell curve. Demanding but not too intense.

Grisham does not teach. He reads off of his PowerPoints, never working out any problems. His quizzes (basically midterms) often contain questions not included in the syllabus (he likes to ask questions from additional readings he assigns). He goes off on tangents most likely unrelated to the material which is essential to pass the class; most of the time I wish he would just teach us the kinds of problems we may see on the quizzes. Also, he is the only chemistry professor in 2010 that does not send out answer keys for his practice quizzes. If you want a teacher, I would advise picking another professor. However, Grisham is ideal for those that know most, if not all, things regarding intro chemistry and super chemistry geeks; if I was a chem genius and really into in-depth (and random) chemistry facts, I would love Grisham. Another positive point is that he is enthusiastic during lectures, but that is nowhere close to making up for his other lacking qualities, especially since he just recites PowerPoint slides (which could be read at home) or talks about irrelevant material.

Grisham is enthusiastic about chemistry and an underrated lecturer. He teaches from the book and gives fair tests. Lee is an incompetent TA, though.

Grisham is the middle tier of Intro Chem professors. You can tell he's really enthusiastic, unfortunately that doesn't mean it will make the material more interesting. Intro Chem is a grind of a class. Do the homework, know the math involved, and with Grisham pay attention to the current events. They will show up on the quizzes.

The class would've been easy if Professor Grisham actually tested you on chemistry. He makes you come to class with clicker question and these current events articles called "chemistry in your world" that he makes you responsible for. He even puts one or two of them on the quiz, which messed me up a lot. I was always prepared for quizzes but it was always those gay "chem in your world" questions that got me. He doesn't really teach either; he reads off of the slides that the textbook company provides; they could pay me to do that. I averaged a 13 on quizzes and got a 29/30 on the exam and managed to pull an A, but having another professor would've saved me a lot of frustration during the semester.
