Oh, boy. This course. Professor Damon's lectures are very rambling and often seem to have nothing to do with the reading, or are unhelpful even if relevant. Discussion was taught by him too (there weren't enough students to get a TA) and a complete waste of time. Enormous amounts of reading, although you don't have to do all of it (he doesn't even expect you to). The only assignments are short summations of articles and three 10-15 page discussions of three books per paper, plus a group project. He's a pretty easy grader.
The one really positive thing I can say about Professor Damon is that he does care about his students and wants to help them. For me, the boring, unhelpful lectures were really hard to get through, but the books were often interesting.
Only take this course if you a) are required to or b) have studied with Professor Damon before and know you like his teaching style.
