Koenig is approachable and keeps the class interactive. Sometimes he goes off on tangents that relate to the industry (which are interesting but not tested), although he tends to do many in-class examples.
The group project is poorly structured, and the knowledge it tests is not given in class. You're almost forced to utilize outside sources.
The first quiz is easy, the second quiz is very difficult, and the third quiz is fair if you do a lot of example problems from the chapters tested. He chooses quiz problems from problems in the book that were not assigned for homework sometimes, so glance over everything.
The class is not curved, and has a fairly low average GPA. The problems are hard to study for, and if he throws a curve ball (like he does on the final), then you just need to be smart.
Koenig is a decent professor. The material is generally not too hard to learn. Tests were manageable. My main problem was with the project, which was badly structured to the point where most of the hard work can't be completed until the last week or so of the semester because you won't learn how to do it until then, which makes it really difficult to get done in time. The final was pretty challenging.
He was okay. Fall 2013 was Koenig's first time teaching 2215. In general the material is pretty straightforward and Koenig does an okay job in lecture (but isn't the most interactive professor). HW sets take a long time but are good practice. One thing I didn't like was how inconsistent the exams were--it went from easy to extremely hard to kind of okay so we never really knew what to expect. All in all though I didn't think the class was horrible but it wasn't the easiest. The final exam requires quite a bit of attention and studying though.
