This course was really interesting and fairly easy. It was very straightforward, which is a great plus. Dr. Palazzo brings in the topics of her research a lot, and gives you insight into what a lot of archaeology is about (not just the big, well-known sites). The class met Mondays and Wednesdays and we had discussion on Fridays. The discussion sessions would expand upon what we would talk about in class, which was helpful and interesting. There are weekly readings, but you have to buy some books and could honestly get what you need to get out of these readings just by asking about them in discussion. A lot of the info from the readings would also be included in lectures, so you could get away without doing them (although you'll probably get more out of the class topics if you do). The tests are super straightforward and don't try to trick you. If you go to class and discussion and study you can definitely get an A in the class (which is a 95, by the way). Overall, would recommend for anyone interested in archaeology!
Took this class over J-term, great decision. She's young and understands that students taking January classes are trying to get ahead and boost their GPA's, so as long as you come to class and participate, you'll be well off in this class. Since J-term classes are long days, there are often videos, discussion, and activities so that you aren't lectured for 4 hours a day. Great class, wish I could take again
