Very easy course that was fairly interesting! Despite probably not having to, I did almost every single reading. Sometimes it got tedious, but I enjoyed the content enough that I was able to get through all of them fine. However, I attended probably about 10 lectures total and got away with it fine. I attended about half of the discussion sessions (part of participation grade) as well. There are discussion posts and short-response HW assignments factored into your grade, and these are quite easy to get perfect scores on if you're paying enough attention to course material. There are two exams, which were harder than anticipated for me, but you can send in exam corrections for up to 75% of points back. Definitely do them, they saved my grade. There's also a final presentation that is with a randomly assigned group, and that was fine. Overall, if you've enjoyed previous ANTH courses, this should be an easy A class that's worth it to take! I enrolled in this for gen ed requirements as a CS major in the college (with a history of taking/enjoying humanities classes) and definitely don't regret it. Wendte is charming, funny in his own way, a great lecturer, and kind. #tCFS24
Professor Wendte was amazing! I was only taking this course for my Non-Western Perspectives req and Linguistics req for the Cog Sci major, but he delivered the course very well and kept me engaged. It also is not difficult to succeed in this course; there were weekly discussion posts on the textbook reading (only about 100 words), and the 2 midterm exams and several quizzes were always online, open-note, and had no time limit (just had to be done within a week usually). We also had a final group project, connecting any concept from the course to your own life, which was a breeze if you just put in a bit of effort and thought. Overall, this was a very enlightening course and I'd recommend it to anyone, especially if you have the chance to take with Professor Wendte!
