I thought this class was pretty good - the content was uniformly very easy and digestible, and Dr. Manson is an engaging presenter, clearly cares a lot about her students, and knows her stuff content-wise. Lectures would often be broken up by "exercises" which were just small, easy assignments that you could complete in small groups. Exams required critical thought on the subject matter but were not hard. The subject matter was pretty introductory so if you are already engaged in/knowledgeable about conservation then this might not be the best use of your time. However, if you're interested in the topic but lack a strong background in it then I'd recommend taking the course (if for no other reason than to take a class with Dr. Manson, which is well worth it if you're at all intrigued). #tCFF23
Dr. Manson is one of the best professors in the department. She is extremely caring and will help you whenever you need it. She tries to make the semi-large lecture more engaging by incorporating group work into the lecture. There is a group project and an individual report that help you to apply what you are learning in class to the real world. I definitely recommend this course, even if you are not interested in conservation!
I love, love, love this class! Professor Manson is AMAZING!!! If you need an easy, upper-level biology class, then take this one because I felt that it was fair and fun. We did do some group projects in the course, and I felt that the group projects were a nice grade booster. There were two midterms based solely off of power points and class notes, and there was a final exam that focused heavily on the latter end of the course. The only catch is you definitely have to go to class because you have to download and fill in the blanks on the power points. Definitely doable though! I was satisfied with my grade, and I would take this class over if I could!
